Gordon Hope Grant
Gordon Hope Grant (1875-1962) was an American artist hailing from San Francisco, California, prior to relocating to New York City. He was most recognized for his illustrations, printmaking, paintings, fresco murals, plein air paintings, graphic art designs and mosaics, as well as his impressionism and realism styles. His works primarily centered on cityscapes, figures, genre, landscapes, war and military combat, seascapes, Spanish mission churches, portraits, architecture, history, and marine and nautical subjects. GrantÕs works have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Paris Salon, the Vose Galleries of Boston, the Grand Central Art Galleries of New York City, the National Academy of Design, the Salmagundi Club, the Society of Illustrators, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and more. He was also affiliated with the American Federation of Arts, the Allied Artists of America, the Society of American Etchers and many others. Grant later served as an illustrator for the Saturday Evening Post.
