James McBey (1883-1959)
A self-taught artist and etcher from Scotland's Aberdeenshire, McBey was a banker with a passion for creating. Best known for producing an array of drawings at the Western Front during World War I, his pieces dramatically increased in popularity and price post-WWI. He became as American citizen in 1942, and after his passing the McBey Art Reference Library was established by his wife at the Aberdeen Art Gallery.
