This is an original 1935 halftone print of Sailors' Snug Harbor in New York. The caption writes, "Sailors' Snug Harbor in New York is one of the richest charities in the country and its reading rooms are among the airiest. But its inmates are relatively few. No such comfortable provision exists in the United States for the superannuated unskilled workers who form by far the largest group in the country's almshouses." Photography by Norman Taylor.
