Period Paper is excited to offer a collection of rare color heliogravures and halftone prints from the No. 8 September-November edition of Verve, volume 2. Verve was a French art review magazine that remained in publication during War World II. The No. 8 edition was completed just days before the German occupation of Paris, France, and it took extraordinary efforts for copies to reach America. As a result of the ongoing war, it was decided that the theme would be the Nature of France, and each work of art, be they contemporary or Medieval, is a magnificent chef d-oeuvre that the modern Francophile will greatly enjoy.
This piece was illustrated by Chardin, Jean-Baptiste Simeon.
