This is an original 1906 black and white intaglio print of Jacques Pierre Brissot. During the French Revolution, Brissot was the leader of the Girondist party movement. In an effort to stem the bloodshed of the Revolution, Brissot advocated the reinstatement of a constitutional monarchy. On June 2, 1793 Brissot was arrested and charged with being a "counter revolutionist". On October 30, 1793 he was guillotined by the revolutionaries.
