"Canby's Campaign Against Mobile"

This is an original 1910 two-color lithographed map of Union Major General Edward Canby's campaign to take the Confederate city of Mobile, Alabama in the last days of the American Civil War. Working in conjunction with Union Brigadier General James H. Wilson, General Canby struck into the deep heart of the Confederacy, taking Mobile, and denying the few remaining Confederate troops the manufacturing and supplies once supplied from there. A central point of Wilson's Campaign, Canby's raid to Mobile resulted in far less collateral damage as Sherman's March to the Sea, which had occurred a year prior.
