This is an original 1908 black and white print ad encouraging travel, tourism and residency in San Mateo County's Burlingame, California.

The town of Burlingame was named after former U. S. Minister to China Anson Burlingame, who visited the area in 1866. After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, many people were seeking out a safer and more stable area to establish residency; thus, many came to settle in Burlingame. By 1908, the town was officially incorporated. Today, Burlingame is known for its prestigious Victorian architecture and high-end residential areas. Noteworthy residents or natives of the area include Glee actress Dianna Argon, Bing Crosby, owner of Seabiscuit Charles S. Howard, best-selling children's author Tamora Pierce, Leo Wyatt from the television show Charmed, plus many more. Popular references to the town include James Pattterson's Women's Murder Club book series where the character of Claire Washburn lives. Burlingame High School was the filming site for the movie Dangerous Minds. The movie Flubber was filmed in the Kohl Mansion in Burlingame.
