This is an original 1944 World War II halftone print of military patrol in Newport, Rhode Island, shortly after Pearl Harbor.

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Corporal Oliver Baker came to the United States, where he received his art education from the Pratt Institute, the Art Students League. Thereafter, Baker studied in Paris. Later, he became assistant to the Treasury Relief Art Project. He, then, was commissioned by the Federal Arts Project to complete a mural for the McRae, Georgia Post Office. He was later transferred to Camp Campbell in Kentucky.
