This is an original 1944 black and white halftone print of the warehouse and building area of Japanese Occupied Nauru being destroyed by American Helldiver aircraft of the 17th Carrier Bombing Squadron on December 8th 1943. While Nauru was strategically bypassed by allied infantry forces, the Island was still subjected to naval blockade and aerial bombardment.
