1945 Print Engineer Bridge Doubs River Besancon Langres Dijon France CON1

This is an original 1945 halftone print of a destroyed bridge in Besancon, a break in the main supply artery between Langres and Dijon and the construction of another bridge in the Dijon area. One caption writes, "Typical destruction and subsequent temporary repair are shown by this bridge over the Doubs River at Besancon."

"Conad History" (Continental Advance) was created to preserve the history of the United States Army supply forces, and to provide a basis for future studies by the United States War Department. The book covered the continental advance, communications zones, the European theater of operations, and the United States Army during 1944 and 1945. The Conad staff began in Africa and traveled to central Europe where they finished.
