This is an original 1859 black and white wood engraving that depicts the biblical town of Bethany (commonly associated with modern-day al-Eizariya in Palestine). Located on the southwestern side of the Mount of Olives, it was here that Jesus resurrected his friend Lazarus, and was also the home of Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha.
