This is an original 1871 black and white in-text wood engraving of a "Shádoof", an Egyptian agriculture soil machine consisting of two posts or pillars of wood or canes with an horizontal piece of wood extending from top to top to which is suspended a slender lever, formed of a branch of a tree, and a water vessel.
