This is an original 1871 black and white woodcut of the House of the Faun that was built in 2nd century BCE and was one of the biggest, impressive private residences in all Pompeii, Italy. The site was named for the bronze statue of a faun dancing as a basin to catch rainwater found at the center to the impluvium.
