This is an original 1873 halftone print of a Gothic Hot-Air Furnace, made by Alex M. Lesley, 224 West Twenty-third Street, New York City. The Gothic Furnace is best adapted for the application of the brickwork arrangement around the same. It consists of double walls L M, between which the air passes first before receiving its final heating. This air enters at the upper left-hand corner, from an air shaft connected with the outside, so as not to drive the musty air from the cellar into the house.
