This is an original 1873 black and white wood engraving of Babylon. All that remains of the original ancient framed city is a mound, or tell, of broken mud-brick buildings and debris in the plain between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. This image was taken from a book of travels from M. Wolcott Redding.
