This is a rare original 1875 color chromolithograph that depicts a selection of Greco-Roman designs gleaned from historical bas-reliefs, mosaics, and painted murals. It is thought that many of the interesting patterns and motifs originated with the oriental influences brought back by Alexander the Great during his travels. Several of these pieces come from homes in Pompeii and Herculaneum, please see the additional images for more details.
