This is an original 1875 monochrome woodcut of the "Convent of San Domingo, City of Mexico." Officially known as the Señor de la Expiración Chapel, the Church of San Domingo (or Santo Domingo) was the first monastery established in New Spain. The Church was consecrated in 1590, and is built in the Baroque architectural style. The foreground of the image depicts the Church's Plaza, also called Santo Domingo.
