This is an original 1875 black and white woodcut which depicts King Louis XVI making a point to his courtiers. Whilst Marie Antoinette and her ilk frolicked around in decked out sledges during the crisp Parisian winter, her husband the King was busy sending out laden wagons of logs for the poor. As the caption reads, those were his sledges, although in the long run neither would provide the couple with a safe getaway in the upcoming French Revolution.
