This is an original 1875 monochrome woodcut of "The Palace of Mexico." Depicted is the National Palace of Mexico, located on the main square of Mexico City, Plaza de la Constitución. The site has been the seat of power in Mexico dating back to the rule of the Aztec emperor Moctezuma II. Many of the Palace's building materials have been derived from the structures once erected on the site. The building is the seat of the federal executive in Mexico.
