This is an original 1875 monochrome woodcut of a "Street View in Puebla." Puebla is on of the five most important colonial cities in Mexico. Founded in 1531, the city was not as populated in the sixteenth century as it was in the pre-Columbian (pre-Hispanic) period. The city's architecture, ranging from Renaissance to Mexican Baroque has led Puebla to be named a World Heritage Site (1987). Captured in this image is a wonderful street scene of the nineteenth century.
