This is an original 1876 black and white wood engraving of bread loaves being thrown to the crowd in Strasbourg, France. A few of them appear to be clobbering a bull to death with mallets on the right. This joyous occasion was most likely intended to be a celebration of King Louis XV visiting Strasbourg during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-48).
