This is an original 1883 black and white photolithograph of "Hudibras Catechiz'd", the ninth in a series of twelve engravings by William Hogarth (1697-1764) that illustrated Samuel Butler's mock heroic narrative poem entitled, "Hudibras". This piece illustrates Sir Hudibras being beaten by masked assailants who want him to confess his reason for wanting to marry the Widow.
