This is an original 1883 woodcut illustration of the Carty Building on the corner of Main and Mill Streets in Lexington, Kentucky, which was built on the site of the original block house. The Commercial College of Kentucky University and the Young Men's Christian Association, as well as the Schools of Telegraphy and Phonography, the drug establishment of H. H. Barnes & Co., Dr. J. T. Hervey dental office, and Cohen's clothing store, occupied this building.
