This is an original 1884 half-page article about an improved belt Dynamometer, designed and constructed for the Franklin Institute by the president of that body, Mr. William P. Tatham. The machine consists of a double gallows frame constructed of wood, framed together at the foot and sustaining at the top a cross block, from which the scale beam (by Fairbanks & Company) is suspended.
