This is an original 1885 black and white print ad for the "direct vision" spectroscopes, (or spectrometers), that were made and sold by John Browning of 63 Strand, London, England during the Victorian era. Spectroscopes are commonly used in astronomy and chemistry to measure properties of light over the electromagnetic spectrum in order to identify materials.
