This is a rare original 1888 color chromolithograph which depicts a myriad of bizarre looking historical objects from 17th century Europe, all of which are prime examples of the great metalwork which was appearing alongside the French Baroque and Rococo styles. It was extremely popular to mount objects like eggs and shells into precious metals, combining nature with flowing man-made swirls and scrollwork which conformed to the shape of the organic object.
