This is a rare original 1888 color chromolithograph which depicts a variety of male and female fashions worn by the French aristocracy during the 17th century. High ruff collars were slowly losing popularity, replaced by simpler lace collars which would not have needed to be so starched, and men were finding a variety of new ways to wear their clocks and capes.
