This is an original 1890 two-page (1 page, double-sided) article about the Optical Telegraphy, devised by Colonel Mangin, a French officer. Of the plans proposed by this officer, two were commonly used, one involving the use of lenses; and the other the telescopic system. In the first, the source of the light is a simple petroleum lamp; while the second utilizes the sunlight or electric light.
