This is an original 1890 black and white in-text wood engraving of the ruins of the Temple of Augustus which was built in the ancient city of Samaria in the Land of Israel. It is now under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority. The temple was built by Herod (73 - 4 BC) who was a Roman client king of Judea.
