This is an original 1891 one-page print article about the largest producer of marble in the world, Vermont Marble Company of Proctor, Vermont. This company's business is carried on at Proctor, Center and West Rutland, all being united by a railroad which connects wiht the extensive quarries which connects with the extensive quarries which the company owns and operates in the vicinity. The principal finishing plant of the company, however, is situated at Proctor. In this vicinity are located the extensive quarries where the Sutherland Falls and Mountain Dark marbles are obtained. This article also features an illustration of the Sutherland Falls marble quarry. The Sutherland Falls Quarry is remarkable in showing the manner in which the material permits itself to be taken out.
