This is an original 1892 photogravure of a small stream or river in Warwickshire, England. Note the impression of the printing plate.
Period Paper has obtained a lovely collection of lithographs and first-impression photogravures of the landscape and architecture of late-19th century Warwickshire-- the rural county in the West Midlands region of England famed as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The lithographs in this collection are tipped-in on a heavy mounting stock. The photogravures are first impression and the impression of the printing plate is visible. (The first impression printing of a photogravure produces the clearest and most detailed image and is highly sought after by collectors.)
This 119+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +. No creases. No natural defects. No tears. No water damage. There is some wear along the outer edges and some slight surface rub in the bottom outer border. Please note that there is handwriting in pencil below the photogravure which we are unable to date, but which could be matted out or erased.
