This is an original 1892 black and white wood engraving of Gaston Henri de Bourbon who was the Duke of Verneuil and the Bishop of Metz from 1612-1652. He was an illegitimate son of King Henry IV of France but was knighted in 1661 and became ambassador to England in 1666.
