1893 Etching Tzippori Ruins Church St. Anne Joachim - ORIGINAL PS3

This is an original 1893 etching (individually hand-painted) of the ruins of a church, and now existing Chapel dedicated to St. Anne and St. Joachim in Tzippori, Galilee (or Sephoria, Saffuriya, Sepphoris, Dioceserea). According to tradition, this was the home of Anna and Joachim, the parents of the Virgin Mary.

Period Paper is pleased to offer an extraordinary and rare collection of original etchings of the Holy Land of Judea and Galilee. Created to document the history of the Franciscan missions in the Holy Land, these etchings provide an excellent historic visual record of the landscape, architecture, and people of Palestine and the Middle East. Each individually hand-painted etching (from a photograph) is mounted on a thick fiber board with a stunning decorative design lithographed in rich gold gilt. These museum-quality etchings are impossible to find anywhere.

CONDITION

This 118+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. Light aging in margins. No creases. No tears. No water damage. This 7 x 5 inch etching is mounted on its original fiber board measuring approx. 10.5 x 8 inches (note: there is printing on the reverse of the mounting board). The etching is in spectacular condition and would look stunning framed. (Please note that any aging in the outer margins is more pronounced in the digital image than on the actual item. In addition, the brilliant gold gilt appears dull brown in the digital image.)
