This is an original 1895 black and white steel engraving of a portrait of Milwaukee lawyer Henry Martyn Finch. Prior to entering law firms, Finch worked for Milwaukee's "Evening Wisconsin" newspaper. Thereafter, Finch was employed at the law firm of Judge Abram D. Smith and Henry L. Palmer. Around 1853, Finch moved to Janesville, where he became a part of the law firm Finch and Lynde. After, Finch was accepted into the partnership, the company's name was changed to Finches, Lynde and Miller.
