This is an original 1895 black and white steel engraving of a portrait of Milwaukee Lawyer and Democratic politician, William Pitt Lynde. Lynde served as Attorney General in Wisconsin, as well as served as the President of the board of trustees of the Village of Milwaukee. Lynde was elected into the United States House of Representatives, the Wisconsin State Assembly, the State Legislature and the State Senate. He was also mayor of Milwaukee in 1860. Lynde is also credited with founding the law firm of Finch and Lynde around 1842. Today, the firm is known as Foley and Lardner and remains one of the oldest and largest law firms in the United States.
