This is an original 1898 black and white halftone print of the Varlaam (or Barlaam) Monastery in the Meteora area of Greece. It is named after the monk who built the first chapel there. Meteora refers to monasteries built in places that are close to the heavens and are built there so only the most devoted of visitors are welcome.
