"Captain Edward Riou"
This is an original 1898 monochrome halftone print of a miniaturist painting by Samuel Shelly of a portrait of Capt. Edward Riou, who served in the British Royal Navy during the French Revolutionary Wars. He was killed by a volley of round shot fired from the artillery battery of a Danish fort at the Battle of Copenhagen that was fought on April 2, 1801 during the War of the Second Coalition.

This 113+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. Light aging throughout. Small crease - top margin. There is light bleedthrough on this piece from the verso. Small tear - left margin.
