This is an original 1899 two-color cover for the Harvard Lampoon, It features the Harvard Jester sitting on a winged horse, holding up a shield inscribed with the motto VA-NI-TAS (Latin, meaning "empty"), a parody of Harvard's motto, Veritas, or "Truth". An abandoned house staggers around the inner panel, clutching cards in one hand, a bottle of rye in the other, all while smoking two pipes simultaneously.


This 112+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++. Light aging throughout. No creases. No natural defects. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage.
