This is an original 1899 color lithographed map of the Battle of Vyazma that took place on November 3, 1812 during the Napoleonic Wars. The rear guard of the French army was defeated by the Russian forces commanded by Gen. Mikhail Miloradovich. French casualties numbered around 8,000 killed and 4,000 taken prisoner while the Russians lost only 1,800 soldiers.
