This is an original 1899 halftone print of the magnificent Tirol Castle, seat of the ancient Counts of Tirol who gave the region their name. Dating as far back as the early Middle Ages, this Medieval fortress held a wealth of archeological finds, and today is known as the South Tyrol Museum of Culture and History.
