This is an original 1899 black and white print of a meeting between the American and Spanish Commissions during the Spanish-American War of 1898. The dignitaries identified include: Mr. Day, President of the American Commission; Senator Davis; Senator Frye; Senator Gray; Mr. Moore, American Secretary; Mr. Reid; and Se–or E. Montero Rios, President of the Spanish Commisssion; Se–or Ojeda, Spanish Secretary; Mr. Fergusson, Se–or Villaurrutia, Se–or Garnica; Se–or Abarzuza; and General Cerero.

Period Paper is pleased to offer an outstanding collection of original historical color and black and white print illustrations of the Spanish-American War that were published in 1899. Following the sinking of the Battleship Maine in Havana harbor on February 15, 1898, the United States declared war on Spain on April 25, 1898. The war ended on December 10, 1898 with the signing of the Treaty of Paris resulting in Spain losing Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Guam and other islands in its overseas empire. Some of these prints are printed on heavier stock with no printing on the reverse, while others are on regular stock and may have text on the reverse. Although the condition of each print varies, this collection will be of interest to the serious history collector.
