This is an original 1900 black and white halftone print of a portrait of American music composer John Knowles Paine, who was a member of a group of composers that were collectively known as the "Boston Six" during the Victorian era. He also made on the first musical recordings on a wax cylinder with Theo Wangemann in 1889.
