This is an original 1901 halftone print of the Bay of Venice in Venice, Italy. Venice is a city of water canals built on a group of 117 islands. It is known for its art history and for the popular travel mode of its romantic canal waterways. It is a real marvel that it is built on wood piles made from "alder" trees. This wood is highly water resistant and because it is covered by water and is in an "oxygen-poor" environment it doesn't decay rapidly as it would exposed to surface air. The water flow around it causes it to "petrify" and thus it has stood the test of time.
This 110+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. Light aging throughout. No creases. No natural defects. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage.
