This is an original 1902 black and white photogravure of Right Honorable Warren Hastings (Dec. 6, 1732-Aug. 22, 1818) of the British Privy Council. Originally appointed as Governor General of India, he was impeached in 1787 on numerous counts of crimes and misdemeanors concerning his conduct in governmental decisions, particularly those of finances, in India. In 1795 the verdict would finally come back resulting in an acquittal, but by that time he had already moved forward with his life and would be named a member of the of Privy Council in 1814.
