This is an original 1903 black and white halftone print of National Heroes Square as it appeared at the turn of the century in Bridgetown, Barbados. Formerly Trafalgar Square and Nelson Square, today the fountain (built 1865) pictured still stands to commemorate the introduction of piped water and there is also a statue of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson, a hero of the British Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars.
