This is an original 1903 halftone print of the pavilion of the Forbidden City in Beijing (formerly Peking), China. The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. It is home to the Palace Museum, and serves as a ceremonial and political venue for the Chinese government.

This item is from a limited edition collection of important historical prints produced in 1903. The edition size produced at that time was out of 1,000 and this collection of prints was numbered 870. The edition and number are not present on the individual item but rather was provided for the collection as a whole.
