This is an original 1903 black and white halftone print of "A Native of Unyamwezi from near south shores of Victoria Nyanza." This early twentieth century image depicts a male member of the Nyamwezi (or Wanyamwezi) people, who are native to Unyamwezi, a region of what was historically German East Africa, which now included portions of Burundi, Rwanda and Tanganyika (Tanzania).
