This is an original 1904 black and white relief line-block map of the Battle of Albuera, which took place on May 16th, 1811, and was fought between allied British and Portuguese forces under William Beresford against the Imperial French Army commanded by Jean de Dieu Soult. As both sides inflicted heavy casualties on the other, the outcome of the battle was considered to be indecisive.
