This is an original 1905 black and white halftone print which depicts the ruins of the Château Gaillard, located near Les Andelys in northern France. It was built in the late 2nd century by Richard the Lionheart, who was King of England and Duke of Normandy at the time, and was situated in such a strategic location that it changed hands often over the course of the Hundred Years' War.
