This is an original 1905 black and white halftone print of the Holy Stairs or Scala Sancta located in the Lateran Palace of Rome, Italy. According to tradition, the stairs are the same that Jesus Christ walked on his way to his audience with Pontius Pilate. The stairs are said to have been transported from Jerusalem by St. Helena in the 4th century CE.
